Arriving with an intense beauty, this week’s Globe Track of the Week, “Eat Your Heart Out,” by SKORTS, will reel any listener in with the explosive moodiness of the vocals and the driving bass. Engrained in the very essence of this track is the crafted simple ingenuities of the 90’s alternative rock scene.

In the music video, in a nod to Olivia Newton-John, an 80s inspired work-out that feeds off the song’s energy can be seen with the lead singer of the band, Alli Walls, out in front.

SKORTS, a New York band, though still relatively small, has been stamping their identity on the DIY rock scene throughout the city since 2021. All of their hectic work in the whirlwind of performances came together when in 2024 they won Our Wicked Lady’s Winter Madness battle-of-the-bands.

With an upcoming album called “Incompletement,” that band is definitely one to watch for the future of the genre. On Big Hassle, their publicity firm’s website, SKORTS said “Incompletement is a word we made up. To us, it means allowing oneself to live and create in an ever-changing state of impermanence.”

Even if incomplement means a state of impermanence, SKORTS are one thing thats here to stay.
