GOSHEN, Ind. – Each week, a Globe-pal (AKA a DJ at 91.1 the Globe) uploads a review of a Globe track that is sent out and posted on globeradio.org/music. The Globe Track of the Week is proudly presented by 91.1 the Globe, the best college radio station in Indiana.

The other week I had the opportunity to sit down and talk to The Erly during their Globe Music Presents (check it out), later in the week I got to mix them as they played a three hour Grateful Dead set at Ox Bow County Park. One of the songs they played during their session on The Globe was “55 On The Other Side,” a track off their new album, Salem Lights, coming out September 4th.

The Erly opened their live session with “55 On The Other Side,” I was into it from the start. The halting guitar riff mixed with the drums to set the tone for the beginning of the song, it made me do one of those slow headbobs where your whole body kinda moves back and forth. The lyrics talk about driving, using it as a metaphor for life. “I’m cruising//you’re losing//never stop to heal my bruising//you drift and I glide//55 on the other side.”

The Erly will release their new album Salem Lights this week, but fans of the band will already know four of their songs, off their EP Sally. Sally was originally meant to be a single with the song “Sally,” but according to the band an error with the distribution software meant that four songs (“Sally,” “55 On The Other Side,” “Oh Well,” and “Oh10”) were released as a four song EP.

You can hear more about that story and others, by checking out our Globe Music Presents with The Erly. I highly recommend this song and this band, if you have a chance to catch them live, do it!
