GOSHEN, IND. – Goshen College was named the Radio School of the Year by the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters (IASB) on Saturday. Communication students joined 10 other colleges at the Indianapolis Colts’ Gridiron Hall at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center, for IASB’s annual luncheon and awards presentation, followed by the Indiana Broadcasters Association’s (IBA) spring career fair.

Goshen College received 27 awards, including 4 first place honors across the competition. Goshen College also placed second in the news and sports divisions behind Ball State University and third in the video division.

“The Globe has a long standing history of success at IASB,” said Tyson Miller, a senior journalism major and student station manager. “It feels good to be able to continue that legacy and to keep producing excellent work.”

This is GC’s seventh consecutive year being named Radio School of the Year and 11th time in 14 years. The 11 titles are more than any other school since the competition began in 2005.

“It never gets old, but it never gets easy either,” said Jason Samuel, director of Globe Media. “I’m really impressed with the seniors who led the way … [they] were the difference maker … they made a statement.”

Goshen College students are being recognized for their work with co-curricular programs in the Communication Department: the college’s radio station, 91.1 The Globe, GlobeTV, and video production company, FiveCore Media.
