GOSHEN, Ind. — With some reversed, ethereal sounds, Daisy the Great start off their track “Dog.” Dog is this week’s Globe Track of the Week, and the song starts off just like this semester has: slowly launching into a fast pace. The melodramatic riff at the beginning plays into the emotion of the song, the singers comparing themselves to a sad dog on its leash, dragging its feet. The vocal melodies float overtop of the rest of the band, a slow and introspective introduction to the raucous, heavy chorus and the chromatic guitar riff that follows.

The music video for Dog shows the band rehearsing in a chaotic studio, but is contrasted by the calmness of the two singers exploring New York streets. As Winnie the Pooh is mentioned several times in the lyrics of the song, he also makes several appearances in the music video.

“Dog” is in the same strain of artists as Florence Road and Noah Floresch, indie darlings that infuse heavier guitars with beautiful vocal melodies. On tour right now, Daisy the Great will come to Chicago and play at the Subterranean on September 15, but other shows will be happening across the country to put on display the release of their newest album, “The Rubber Teeth Talk.”
