GOSHEN, Ind. – Each week, a Globe-pal (AKA a DJ at 91.1 the Globe) uploads a review of a Globe track that is sent out and posted on globeradio.org/music. The Globe Track of the Week is proudly presented by 91.1 the Globe, the best college radio station in Indiana.
It’s August 25th, 2023 and The Old Crow Medicine Show just released an album named Jubilee. The opening song to the album is one that particularly interests you from the first second of the song to the last, with vocals and instruments playing beautifully together.
That was my reaction to “Ballad of Jubilee Jones.” This single by Old Crow Medicine Show is able to find a connection with instruments and vocals in a way that blends so perfectly and works so well on an upbeat tempo. My favorite part of this single was after the third chorus there is a combination of many instruments that all come together and play a tune that makes me want to get up and dance.
As this part is playing you can hear a type of onbeat stomping or dancing feet that makes it seem as if there were people dancing in the background to this instrumental part of the song. This album in general reminds me of earlier music of theirs with the up-beat strings playing all together and making it so you want to get up and dance your feet off.
Old Crow Medicine Show has been traveling all around America delivering great performances for their audience so if you’d like to catch the band they will be having two different shows coming up, starting with a show on September 13 at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Following it up they’ll be heading to Fort Wayne, Indiana on September 14 at the Embassy Theater. You can find ticket information at crowmedicine.com/tour.
