GOSHEN, Ind. – Olivia Ellen Lloyd has done a bit of everything — she went from being in flight attendant school to producing theater in New York, to teaching in Guatemala, to then finding her purpose in music. She is known for her way of writing music that faces hardship in many different ways — this single is no different. Although I don’t know the exact true meaning of why Olivia wrote this, I can tell it’s a way of showing that she is not in need of her partner and that she can do it herself.
Opening the single you hear a guitar for a few seconds until Olivia blends her vocals with the guitar and gives you the feeling as if she’s alone singing to herself with a guitar on her lap. Olivia has a line that’s very catchy and can be heard all throughout the song, “and I’ll do it myself, do it myself, I’ll do it myself.”
As the song progresses the chorus starts to build up. You start to feel the way Olivia puts all of her heart towards her music and makes sure it’s a heartfelt song. This single will be part of her newest album “Do It Myself” which will be released in March. I have a feeling that this single will be the opening song and I’m looking forward to listening to the full album.
This song has a very interesting music video. It seems to me as if she did it herself, taking videos of different parts of her life from her phone. She shows us the adventurous side of her, and then the side that shows you the purpose she had in life, to sing.
