Elkhart County just got fishy. The Elkhart River Restoration Association released about 3,000 walleye fish into the Elkhart River on Monday, October 10. A member said they  have been trying to improve awareness and angling opportunities for the Elkhart River in the Goshen area. The fish were added by crew stationed at Shanklin Park and Violet Cemetery. The city of Goshen says that the fish were shipped from Gollon Bait and from a Fish Farm in Wisconsin. The Goshen Dam makes natural reproduction for the fish difficult, so the department restocks the Walleye. The fish are said to be six to nine inches long AND like cool, deep water and get the fish get their n name from the milky color of their eyes. Goshen News reports that the River Association has been refilling the river biannually for more than six years. The Goshen Dam makes natural reproduction for the fish difficult, so the department restocks the Walleye.
