GOSHEN, Ind. – Gina Leichty became the first 31st mayor in Goshen’s history Tuesday night, when she beat out challenger Benjamin Rogers, clinching the position with 54% of the vote.
Leichty will be the first woman to be officially elected to the office. Rogers made it clear that his political career was not over, saying he would be back in some capacity.
Rogers mentioned working on other campaigns, but made it clear it would not be out of the question for his name to reappear on the ballot box in some capacity.
Leichty became acting mayor last spring, after former mayor Jeremy Stutsman stepped down.
Stutsman expressed confidence in Leichty and her upcoming term.
