GOSHEN, Ind. — The city of Goshen and the Department of Environmental Resilience has received a $1 million grant by the National Forest Service.
The grant money will be available over a five-year period in order to enhance arbor education in the Goshen community.
In conjunction with the educational aspect, the grant will also bring several prominent tree-planting projects to the community as Goshen continues to expand its canopy coverage.
The city’s goal by 2045 is to have 45% canopy coverage, around double the current amount.
The grant was officially awarded to several Michiana communities in late September and projects will begin taking effect in January of 2024.
