This past Saturday, the Goshen College track and field team hosted their second annual Intrasquad track meet at home. For this track meet, it is was open for anyone at Goshen College and in the Goshen community. Rustin Nyce, head coach for the Goshen track and field team, talks about how the event came to reality last year and that it helps their athletes find that competitive spirit competing against others. Nyce also goes on to mention that aside from the competition against one another, the event is also a great way for track members to engage with the Goshen community and meet others, which is his ultimate goal.
Salvador Escamilla, sophomore athlete for the GC track and field team, he talks more about the idea of being able to host a track meet at home and having his friends and professors watch the team and even compete.
Lots of GC students, professors, and Goshen community members, came out to compete in many different events. Nyce comments that the event was even bigger than last year and his goal is to keep having the meet grow as time goes by. Be expecting the event to be even bigger next year and lots of people to come and compete with the Goshen College track and field team.
