The Women’s soccer team is an already improved team this season on the pitch and off. Their first year head coach Justin Crew has done wonders for this program and is excited moving forward. Crew was diagnosed with cancer 21 years ago and is now cancer free. September is pediatric cancer awareness month, Crew wanted to bring awareness to his team and the community. The team rallied around their head coach and bought in to the fundraiser. Crew and his team set the goal at $1,000. Crew and his team wanted to do this, especially since their head coach has experienced cancer first hand. Crew said that since he and his family know what it is like to go through something as awful as cancer is, he wants to change the future for kids with cancer and take the financial burden off of their families.

The Women’s soccer team partnered with the foundation “going4gold” to raise money for a cause people can rally around. Kaitlyn Begley, junior captain said her and her teammates have gotten behind this cause and have done everything they could do to help.

As for the game itself, the Women’s soccer team defeated Holy Cross 2-nil. The team fell short of their goal, but Crew is confident the team will participate in this cause next year.
